Fuddruckers restaurant
of Annapolis and Vintage Tin of Maryland Street Rod Club combined
resources on Saturday, 12 November 2005, to hold a Classic Car/Street
Rod Show. The event was a huge success! Several hundred
dollars were raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and
Marine Corp personnel from Fort Meade were on hand to accept numerous
donated toys and money on behalf of the Toys For Tots Program.
There really is a Santa
Claus! In addition to the toys donated by Vintage Tin of Maryland
club members and other street rodders, the gentleman who won the morning
50/50 raffle donated $50 of his prize money to Toys For Tots.
These funds were subsequently handed over to the manager of Fuddruckers
who drove to the Annapolis Toys R US store. Toys R US of Annapolis
matched the $50 donation resulting in the manager of Fuddruckers
returning with $100 worth of toys that were presented to the Marines for
Toys For Tots. Moreover, the winner of the afternoon 50/50 raffle
donated their entire winnings, approximately $120, to Toys For Tots.
Many children will have a smile on their face this Christmas thanks to
the generosity of Toys R US, Fuddruckers, its customers, and the many
event participants who donated toys and/or money.
Approximately 113
classic cars and/or street rods were on display in the Fuddruckers
parking lot. Also, a special thanks to Wachovia Bank for the use
of their adjoining parking area. The Marines
"volunteered" to judge the specialty vehicles and chose their
Top 15 for trophy presentation. Fuddruckers held a one-pound
hamburger eating contest for the men with winners receiving restaurant
gift certificates. To ensure equal opportunity and participation,
Fuddruckers also held an ice cream eating contest for the women. A
last minute rule change that removed the spoons and had the ladies sit
on their hands while eating made the contest "more
challenging". Fuddruckers gift certificates were also awarded
to the winners.
Vintage Tin of Maryland
would like to thank Fuddruckers of Annapolis for hosting the event and
their hard work, support, and efforts to ensure success of this show.
Likewise, a big thank you to the Kent Island Cruisers Car Club for their
very generous donation, Toys R US of Annapolis for their kind gifts, and
both winners of the event 50/50 raffles for their unselfish
contribution. I personally want to thank the membership of Vintage
Tin who gave their time in planning, logistical requirements, and
overseeing this show to ensure it was organized properly and represented
the street rodding community in a most positive manner.

President, Vintage Tin of Maryland
